Look at these precious faces waiting to be adopted

She is as sweet as pie and as soft as black velvet. Blackie, a one year old spayed female Retriever mix was confiscated from her previous family, as they left her abandoned for over a week. She is very sweet, but still quiet and timid. A nice patient family and a comfortable home could truly break her of her timid nature. Give some Tender Love and Care to Blackie’s kind and gentle soul—and she will win your heart over forever.

An outdoor cat, taken in during the Winter, then brought to our shelter. Chloe is a two year old spayed female Domestic Shorthair awaiting her permanent home so she does not have to live outside in the elements ever again. She has been here a few months and is antsy to meet her new family. Check out her phenomenal long white whiskers and gorgeous yellow-green eyes! Take this tiny little lady home today for a snugglefest!

Michael Buble is available again girls!

Emily Blunt and Michael Bublé have parted ways after three years together. "They are no longer a couple," Bublé's rep Liz Rosenberg confirms to PEOPLE. The Golden Globe-winning British actress, 25, and the 32-year-old crooner met in 2005, when she popped backstage to say hello to him after one of his concerts. Each was the other's biggest cheerleader. "I get tears in my eyes when I see him onstage. It's overwhelming," Blunt told PEOPLE last year. The feeling was mutual for Bublé. "Every time I see her onscreen, I fall in love with her all over again," he said. After Bublé, Blunt's second biggest fan was her boyfriend's mom. "I love her," Amber Bublé, 53, gushed to PEOPLE this spring. "In fact if he doesn't marry her, I'll kill him. But we'd find someone in the family to marry her because we're not letting her go, ever. She's just the best thing ever and they're perfect together." But the strains of a long distance relationship may have weighed on the couple, who shared a home in Vancouver. With their busy acting and touring schedules, "It's not easy," Bublé told PEOPLE in April.

Olivia Newton John marries John Easterling

OLIVIA Newton-John wed new husband John Easterling twice in less than 10 days - the first a secret Incan ceremony on a Peruvian mountaintop.Newton-John, 59, and millionaire Easterling were the only people allowed on the peak for the spiritual ceremony on June 21. The couple then headed back to Florida to make their union legal with a beachfront wedding on June 30. They kept the news quiet until a barbecue at the singer's Malibu home on July 4. The details of the South American ceremony and follow-up US nuptials have been revealed in Britain's Hello! magazine. It appears the pair sold the rights to the big-paying UK magazine, which also snapped up the rights to Greg Norman's recent wedding to US tennis star Chris Evert in The Bahamas. "He's made me the happiest woman in the world," Newton-John told the mag. Newton-John and Easterling, met 15 years ago through mutual friends but only started dating a year ago. Friends say the couple, with a love of the outdoors, meditation and herbal remedies, are a perfect match. The relationship blossomed as Newton-John was overcoming the latest chapter of tragedy in a life that has had extreme highs and heart-breaking and near fatal lows. "Our relationship was born out of our mutual love of healing," Easterling said. "We were simply made for each other." Newton-John is one of the world's most loved entertainers. Fans have been entranced by her music and film career, that includes four Grammy Awards, five No.1 hits in the US and the film musical Grease, which became a classic of the genre. But, with the success, Newton-John has also been dogged by tragedy. In 1992 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, in 1995 she divorced husband Matt Lattanzi and in 2005 her boyfriend Patrick McDermott went missing during a fishing expedition off Los Angeles. He has not been found. Newton-John's 22-year-old daughter Chloe has also had a highly-public battle with anorexia.

Are you a fan of the TV show "The Office"?

I love Steve Carell and I love the TV show "The Office"!

TWO "OFFICE"-RELATED BOARD GAMES ARE COMING OUT . . . AND THE RELEASE PARTY IS BEING HELD IN SCRANTON:

Attention fans of "The Office": Two new "Office"-related board games will hit stores at the end of this month . . . but if (for some reason) you can't wait that long, you can head to Scranton, Pennsylvania, in a few weeks to attend the official release party.

--On Saturday, July 19th, the city of Scranton . . . (--the fictional home of "The Office") . . . will be holding a special event to commemorate the release of the games.

--It's called The Office Games . . . and it'll be hosted by "Office" producer (slash) writer (slash) star MINDY KALING . . . (--who plays Kelly on the show.)

--The "Office"-themed nonsense will include . . . a 2K Fun Run, an 'Office' trivia challenge, a Dwight Schrute-inspired beet-eating contest, and an autograph session. (--There's no word if any other "Office" stars will be there.)

--One of the new games is a DVD board game . . . and the other is some sort of a trivia game. Both games are scheduled to hit stores nationwide on July 30th.

(--You can get more information on the games . . . and pre-order them, here . . .)

Home is where the heart is....and Sassy need your heart....and home!

Sassy, a five year old spayed female Domestic Shorthair is a bit attached to her Winnie the Pooh blanket. She loves to be petted—but is sensitive to petting below her shoulder blades. This could be due to previous ailments from when she lived life as a stray. Sassy has been at the shelter since December 2007—and is currently sponsored, so her new best friend can take her home with a bag of toys and treats picked specifically for her Sassy self!

There are about 400 cats being sheltered at the Cleveland APL at this time and about 200 more being fostered or at local Petsmart, Petco and Pet Supermarket. Please help by adopting one of these precious beauties. Visit the Cleveland APL at 1729 Willey Ave. in Tremont or go to http://www.clevelandapl.org/.

Don't mess with Tim McGraw!

Last year, Tim's wife, Faith Hill, reamed a lady in the audience for grabbing her husband inappropriately. Tuesday night, Tim was singing "Indian Outlaw" at a concert in Washington when he noticed an aggressive male in the front row striking a woman. Tim called for security while yanking the guy up on stage. Seems this guy needed some instruction on how to treat a lady!

Here's the video.....

I love her song "Breathe (2am)" and I'm happy to let you know Anna Nalick has got a new album coming out and an upcoming tour behind it. However, there’s no release date just yet, nor is there a trek schedule. Nevertheless, the singer-songwriter is auctioning off the chance to be with her onstage during one of the tour’s shows. Sweet William is a beautiful flower and and beautiful cat!

William is one of the first of our hundreds of cats to greet you at the front Adoption doors—wouldn’t you love to stop by, say hello, and take him home in your gracious arms, where he will soon after sooth your soul?

Is this a dig at Tony Romo's ex Carrie Underwood?

Jessica Simpson didn't make the people at PETA too happy with this shirt she wore in the airport the other day. Some say it has to do with a cat fight between Jessica and her now boyfriend, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo's ex-girlfriend, Carrie Underwood. Carrie was voted World's Sexiest Vegetarian by PETA two years in a row.
Apparently, Jessica doesn't know who she's messing with....every heard the song "Before he cheats", Jess????

Getting rid of bees on your deck!

Got an email from Marianne that said.....

Read your blog on getting rid of mosquitoes. Would you hve any idea on getting rid of bees? Everytime we bring food on the deck the bees Zoom in. Maybe your listeners would have an idea

From WikiAnswers....
The first rule is do not do anything until it is dark, when they are back in the hive. The second rule (daylight) is do not wear yellow...they are attracted to it. Best color is light shades of khaki, and the other obvious things, such as no sugar drinks etc.
Misc......: Don't swat them, just slowly fade back. If you swat and kill one, like many of the flying stinging pests, they emit a chemical "alarm" that brings others to the "rescue". If you get chased, generally speaking, they fly in straight lines, so zig-zag as you run.
Just pick a safe spot, and watch where they are all returning to locate the hive in the ground, log, etc. If it is off your property, like a ditch behind the fence, etc., You are on your own. If you call a private exterminator, they will not come unless it is on your property. If you call the park service, they usually will not come either.
FYI....if you have lots of bees flying "your way", such as when you are out on the deck during the day....you are probably on the "fly-way" path of the bees. They use markers to navigate. If you move your deck furniture, or umbrella, bright colored items off your deck, or to different location, sometimes they will at least use a different route.
well - in my back yard we had a massive nest that was lik 1m long in my tree. my dad got a bucket of terps and dumped it on there. nothing can survive breathin and drinkin terps.
The best way to make bees escape and fly away is to provide smoke (NOT FIRE) in the area.
Dump a bucket of soapy water (Ex. Dawn, Liquid soap, oxy clean)you may mix them, then dump some insect repellent in your mixture. Dump it down the hole/entrance of the nest. If you can't get near it during the day when the bees are active, you can dump it at night. NOTE: Just to be safe, after you dump the bucket, RUN. You have about 10-20 sec. to leave the area before the bees will attack. Or, in other words, don't stay around to see the bees come out! Be sure to keep the soil soaked all times around the nest and entrance because the bees hate wet soil. And, the entrance should cave in from being wet, therefore, trapping the queen and most bees inside. the bees that are trapped OUTside the nest will eventually leave. Also, bees hate moth balls. You may put them down the entrance hole and scatter them on top of the land right around the opening. You can also put the moth balls in a pantyhoe or sock and hang it above the entrance.

Any other suggestions?

How to get rid of those pesky mosquitoes this summer!

Here's an email from WDOK listener Jeany....

The best way of getting rid of mosquitoes is Listerine, the original medicinal type. The Dollar Store-type works, too. I was at a deck party awhile back, and the bugs were having a ball biting everyone. A man at the party sprayed the lawn and deck floor with Listerine, and the little demons disappeared. The next year I filled a 4-ounce spray bottle and used it around my seat whenever I saw mosquitoes. And voila! That worked as well. It worked at a picnic where we sprayed the area around the food table, the children's swing area, and the standing water nearby. During the summer, I don't leave home without it.....Passit on.It kills them instantly. It really doesn't take much, and it is a big bottle so it is not as expensive to use as the can of spray you buy that doesn't last 30 minutes. It will last a couple of days. Don't spray directly on a wood door (like your front door), but sprayaround the frame. Spray around the window frames, and even inside the dog houseif you have one.

Support the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act

Read this note from a nurse:

I'll never forget the look in my patients eyes when I had to tell them they had to go home with the drains, new exercises and no breast.I remember begging the doctors to keep these women in the hospital longer, only to hear that they would, but their hands were tied by the insurance companies. So there I sat with my patients, giving them the instructions they needed to take care of themselves, knowing full well they didn't grasp half of what I was saying, because the glazed, hopeless, frightened look spoke louder than the quiet 'Thank You they muttered. A mastectomy is when a woman's breast is removed in order to remove cancerous breast cells/tissue. If you know anyone who has had a mastectomy, you may know that there is a lot of discomfort and pain afterwards. Insurance companies are trying to make mastectomies an outpatient procedure. Let's give women the chance to recover properly in the hospital for 2 days after surgery. It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important. Please take the time and do it really quick! Please send this to everyone in your address book. If there was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard, this is one of those times .If you're receiving this, it's because I think you will take the 30 seconds to go to vote on this issue and send it on to others. You know who will do the same. There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require Insurance Companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the 'drive-through mastectomy' where womenare forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of theirdoctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached. Lifetime Television has put this bill on their Web page with apetition drive to show your support. Last year over half the House signed on.PLEASE!! Sign the petition by clicking on the Web site below. You need no t give more than your name and zip code number.http://www.lifetime tv.com/breastcan cer/petition/ signpetition. phpThis takes about 2 seconds. PLEASE PASS THIS ON to your friends and family, and on behalf of all women, THANKS.

Check out this guy who was discovered on YouTube and is now the lead singer for Boston

If Queen can go on without Freddy Mercury, the 70s rock group Boston can survive without Brad Delp, who passed away last year. http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=4971065&page=1

What's up with Deborah Harry and Blondie these days?

Blondie are set to hit the road this summer to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their third album, Parallel Lines, but it turns out, it wasn’t their idea. Singer Debbie Harry told Billboard that the label was behind the three-decade anniversary celebration, noting, “It’s really sort of traditional EMI behavior. None of us really were counting the hours and the days of whatever.” The tour gets underway on June 5th in Baltimore and on it, the group plans to play the album in its entirety, but might play some of the songs “a little more punky.” Meanwhile, on June 24th, an anniversary edition of Parallel Lines is due out. It includes a seven inch single version of “Heart of Glass,” the French version of “Sunday Girl,” remixes and a DVD with some TV performances and promo videos. As for the trek, Harry thinks all the anniversary festivities “will draw the group closer together in a way,” but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll work on new music. Debbie added, “I don't know exactly what the future of Blondie is for new material. We've always been open for the opportunity to make some new stuff, but with the industry the way it is, it's kind of difficult, especially for a band that's been around for a while. They're not really looking at you for anything new, so you're sort of stuck with the things that people know you for. We'll have to wait and see.” Blondie comes to the the Mountaineer Casin Racetrack and Resort in Chester, West Virginia June 26th.....For more info on the tour, check out http://www.blondie.net/tourschedule.shtml.

The real reason for the Shania Twain Mutt Lange split

What caused the sudden breakup of Shania Twain and her husband, music producer Robert "Mutt" Lange, after 14 years of marriage? His relationship with another woman, say several sources. Reached by PEOPLE after the separation was announced in a statement, Lange called the split "an unfortunate thing." He added, "It's literally just a growing apart, that's all." But sources close to the situation say a third party was involved: Marie-Anne Thiébaud, a longtime secretary and manager of the couple’s chateau in Switzerland. "Mutt and Marie-Anne left their spouses for each other and are still in a relationship," says one source. Lange denies the claims. "It's absolutely not the reason [for the separation]," the famously reclusive producer told PEOPLE when asked about the alleged affair. He also denied that he was in a romantic relationship with Thiébaud: "I'm not, no," he said. "It's not true." (Thiébaud could not be reached for comment.)Twain, 42, and Lange, 59, married in 1993. They have a 6-year-old son, Eja (pronounced "Asia") D'Angelo. An insider says the "You're Still the One" singer is "devastated. This came out of left field ... She loved him." Another source close to Twain tells PEOPLE the Canadian-born star is coping with the help of "a very close-knit group of family and friends."

Mother with 17 Children, All Having Names Begining With J, is Expecting Again...But Struggling to Find a New Name

Having 18 children would be more than enough of a challenge for most women, but for U.S. mother Michelle Duggar it throws up an extra problem … she has to come up with an 18th name beginning with J so it won't stand out among its siblings.

The seven sisters and 10 brothers are Joshua, 20; twins Jana and John-David, both 18; Jill, 16; Jessa, 15; Jinger, 14; Joseph, 13; Josiah, 11; Joy-Anna, 10; twins Jeremiah and Jedidiah, both nine; Jason, seven; James, six; Justin, five; Jackson, three; Johannah, two; and Jennifer, nine months old.

Mrs. Duggar, 41, of Bible-belt state Arkansas, is expecting on New Year's Day. "We've had three in January, and three in December. Those two months are a busy time for us," she said.
The fast-growing family lives in Tontitown in north-west Arkansas in a 7,000 sq ft home, and the children are all home-educated.

Mrs Duggar has been been pregnant for more than 11 years of her life, and the family is in the process of filming a television series for U.S. channel Discovery Health. Mrs Duggar said she is six weeks along and the pregnancy is going well. She and husband Jim Bob – evangelical Christians - said they would keep having children as long as God wills it.

"The success in a family is first off a love for God, and secondly treating each other like you want to be treated," Mr Duggar said.
"Our goal is for each one of our children to be best friends, and everybody working together to serve each other makes that happen."

Keep your keys close to your bed!

Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside of your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key. It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off, odds are the burglar/rapist won't stick around....after a few seconds all of the neighbors should be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there.

Wanna audition to be a back up singer for Alicia Keys?

John Mayer's new look

In his latest blog at HoneyEE.com, John Mayer writes about a new experiment he’s embarking on. John Mayer has got himself a new haircut. The guitarist comments, “Today I set off on my newest project; to grow and maintain an authentic ‘80s style feathered haircut. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for some time and I’m very excited to bring this amazing look into today’s pop culture landscape. The feathered cut projects an attitude of ease and quiet confidence that seems to have all but eluded our generation.” To check out some photos of the new do, as well as some shots of who inspired Mayer, visit Blog.HoneyEE.com/John.
I say "thumbs up" to John Mayer's new do....don'tcha think?
