Send your thoughts and prayers to the fallen police officer

Officer Jason West came to work on Friday and expected to serve and protect his community, but never came home. He was shot and killed after responding to a complaint of a street fight Friday night. If you would like to send your thoughts and prayers to friends and family of Officer West, click here....www.cppa.org. He was a true hero.

So your son or daughter is getting married????

Dear Nancy,
I listen to you all the time and 102.1 is the only station I ever have on.Now that I've buttered you up slightly, I'm really hoping you might be able to help me. My son is getting married in June and I really wanted to have a dance with the groom with a special song that might say something about a mom or a son. Do you have any suggestions, I just don't have a clue. I have a really special son so I'd love the song to be kind of special too. Thanks in advance for your help and for all the great listening pleasure you've given.
Dotty

I get emails like this all the time, so I thought I'd give you some great links to websites dedicated to finding "the perfect song to dance to" with your son or daughter.....best wishes! Nancy

Need doggy day care?????

New pooch pad to employ people with disabilities

A new dog day care is coming to Green, Ohio, with the intention of being much more than an ordinary boarding facility.
Constant Companions Doggie Day Care and Boarding, a Hattie Larlham program, doubles as a job placement center for people with mental retardation and developmental disabilities (MR/DD). “In most situations, prior to creating this program, people with disabilities are only able to find positions with low wages based on piece work,” said Rick Parson, Constant Companions regional manger. “At our doggy day care, these workers are paid competitive wages.” Up to 16 employees with disabilities will closely work with a job coach to ensure each pooch has all the love and attention needed during its cage-free stay. “Our employees will adopt each pet as their own,” Parson said. “The dogs will be begging to come back.”

The day care boasts 10 themed rooms available for overnight lodging or daylong visits. An open house, for owners and pets, held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 14 will celebrate the grand opening. Prices start at $15 for day boarding and $30 for overnight stays. Blankets, beds and other pooch paraphernalia made by people with disabilities will be available during normal facility hours from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
To make a reservation, call (330) 645-9139.
About Hattie Larlham
Established in 1961, Hattie Larlham is a nonprofit organization that provides services to 1,400 children and adults with MR/DD throughout Ohio. Hattie Larlham was selected as one of the top 99 Northeast Ohio organizations to work for in 2006. For more information, visit www.hattielarlham.org.

Watch out for these ads!!!!!!!!!!

Read this email from my friend Nancy at the Grateful Dog Bakery in North Ridgeville.....

I had to share this with you....I was upset after reading a "Pets for Sale" ad in the Oberlin News-Tribune on Tuesday night, May 8th. It reads as follows...

PUPPIES FOR SALE
Yorkies, Yorkie-Poos, Shih-Tzu, Shih-Tzu-Poos, Corgie, Corgi-Yorkies, Cavachons, Malti-Poos, Bichon-Poos, Minpins, Puggles, Pekignese, Toy Poodles and more.

Super 8 Motel, 910 Lorian Blvd (Rt. 58 & 113), Elyria
Saturday & Sunday, May 12 & 13, $100 off with ad.
Cash/Credit Card/Checks
440-925-7826

I don't know about all of you but I find this totally disgusting. Who in their right mind is going to load up a truck full of young, frightened puppies and sell them out of a hotel room. I can't even imagine that they're healthy and clean. Who are these poeple? And for $100 off with newspaper ad!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What are they charging????????????

They're running a "sale" on puppy mill puppies out of a hotel room!!!!!!!!!!

I'm mad that the Oberlin paper would even run this ad...and I'm sure it's in other papers too!

Honestly, anyone responding to these ads is just encouraging these "low lifes" to keep breeding these poor animals. If you're looking to adopt a certain breed, go to www.petfinder.com.

Check out this cool new Petitti web site!

OK, I'm in the process of building a new garden in the front of our house and I had to share with you this cool new website at
You can find out new plants for the year, what's on sale this week, where and when the Petitti free gardening seminars are, and my favorite part of this web site is the "expert resources" page where you can do a "plant search" for all kinds of ideas on what to plant! You've gotta love Petitti's!
