The "Grey's Anatomy" star parlays her Seattle Grace success into fashion by marketing a new line of spruced-up scrubs.
KATHERINE HEIGL, the adorable actress who plays intern Izzie Stevens on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," is taking her hospital uniform public in true style. The 28-year-old has partnered with a healthcare-clothing business to launch the Katherine Heigl Collection, a fashion-forward line of scrubs. It's the first time a celebrity has designed a collection for the medical industry, and Katherine says she hopes that women in the profession get a welcome shot of confidence from her designer duds."I have tremendous respect for women in the healthcare industry," said Katherine. "I know that it is often a difficult and thankless job. I wanted to create a line of scrubs that would allow women to infuse some of their personality and style into their work apparel. When you feel good about how you look, you are more confident, more motivated and it can lift your spirits."The line features four different categories of uniforms and scrubs for women based on Katherine's personal style. "London" pays tribute to England's kitschy trends and features mod details mixed in with blacks, grays, hot pinks and whites. "Connecticut" is all about the woman who likes to look crisp, with sea blue and white tones, blazer-style jackets and angled stitch pockets. "Los Angeles" channels the hip-casual starlet and embodies the city's laid-back style by infusing denim and hoodies into the medical regalia, and "Seattle" adds an adventurous touch with cargo-style scrubs and custom floral prints in coral and hunter green. Most pieces in the collection will be priced under $25, and all will be made from high-quality, soil-release fabrics to ensure long-lasting wear, comfort and durability. That makes the line appropriate for women of all ages who work not only in the hospital, but in clinics, dental offices, labs and spas, as well. "We want women in healthcare to feel good about what they do, show the world who they are and love how they look," says Peaches Uniforms' CEO BARRY ROTHSCHILD, who has partnered with Katherine on her latest and unexpected fashion endeavor. "Katherine is a role model for many women, especially in the healthcare industry. It's only natural for them to want to emulate her style," he adds. The Katherine Heigl Collection will be available for the hospital hipster, or any woman eager to try out the super-comfy look, this fall in retail outlets, online stores and catalogues selling women's medical apparel. Let's do something about this pet food scare before it happens again!!!!!

Hundreds of dogs and cats have been made sick by tainted pet food, and recent nationwide recalls of pet foods have left millions of pet owners deeply concerned with the food industry's ability to ensure the safety of its products. Visit American Humane's website and tell Congress to pass the Human and Pet Food Safety Act of 2007>> Even before the recent pet food recall, bacterial outbreaks were discovered in several human foods, such as spinach, tacos and peanut butter. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated 76 million people suffer from food poisoning each year. Without more trustworthy regulation of the nation's food supply, both humans and pets will remain vulnerable. In response to growing concerns across the nation, U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) recently introduced the Human and Pet Food Safety Act (H.R. 2108). This bill would establish critically needed mandatory federal standards to ensure the safety of the nation's food supply. Specifically, the bill would:
* give the FDA the power to order mandatory food recalls; * establish mandatory processing and ingredient standards; * require more inspections of domestic and international food processing plants; * create a warning system to identify contaminants early on; * enable the FDA to work with veterinarians and public health officials to uniformly disseminate information about food contamination and update recall lists on the FDA website; and * require food processing companies to maintain records and make the records immediately accessible to the FDA upon inspection.
Most importantly, the bill would also allow the FDA to fine companies that neglect to report possible contamination. Send a message to your member of Congress at American Humane's website>>

What do you do with an old American flag?

Flag day is a good day to remind everyone if you have a torn or tattered flag and don't know the proper way to dispose of it, the official USA Flag Site says most American Legion posts and local governments have facilities to dispose of flags....most do, but not all! Call before you take your flag! Here's a link to the official website....http://www.usa-flag-site.org/about.shtml.

Here's an email from a WDOK listener....

According To The Brunswick Sun Times
The VFW Post in Brunswick Right off Of I-71 on south carpenter (Turn Left at the Marathon Station and its on the left side of the street right after the Sleep Inn Hotel)
Is having a flag disposal ceremony at 7pm
Sponsored By St. Ambrose Boy Scout Troop 513 and The Brunswick VFW Post.
