Watch out for these ads!!!!!!!!!!

Read this email from my friend Nancy at the Grateful Dog Bakery in North Ridgeville.....

I had to share this with you....I was upset after reading a "Pets for Sale" ad in the Oberlin News-Tribune on Tuesday night, May 8th. It reads as follows...

PUPPIES FOR SALE
Yorkies, Yorkie-Poos, Shih-Tzu, Shih-Tzu-Poos, Corgie, Corgi-Yorkies, Cavachons, Malti-Poos, Bichon-Poos, Minpins, Puggles, Pekignese, Toy Poodles and more.

Super 8 Motel, 910 Lorian Blvd (Rt. 58 & 113), Elyria
Saturday & Sunday, May 12 & 13, $100 off with ad.
Cash/Credit Card/Checks
440-925-7826

I don't know about all of you but I find this totally disgusting. Who in their right mind is going to load up a truck full of young, frightened puppies and sell them out of a hotel room. I can't even imagine that they're healthy and clean. Who are these poeple? And for $100 off with newspaper ad!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What are they charging????????????

They're running a "sale" on puppy mill puppies out of a hotel room!!!!!!!!!!

I'm mad that the Oberlin paper would even run this ad...and I'm sure it's in other papers too!

Honestly, anyone responding to these ads is just encouraging these "low lifes" to keep breeding these poor animals. If you're looking to adopt a certain breed, go to www.petfinder.com.

Nancy -- thank you so much for calling attention to these puppy sales, they are cruel and inhumane. I work with volunteers from Holmes County Humane Society who along with several rescues has been screaming about the inhumane treatment at both puppy auctions and puppy sale dogs. These people have to be stopped and I can't believe reputable hotels are giving them the space to conduct this kind of business. Thank you so much for putting this out there where more people may learn that this goes on and boycott them. If no one buys these puppies, they will finally be put out of business.

If you've ever loved an animal, please, please don't patronize these puppy sales. To do so is to encourage the continuation of one of the cruelest activities people can inflict on these helpless creatures.

Watch also for the Dog Auctions being held by the Amish in Geauga County - They are among the largest puppy mill operators in the state.

Thank you Nancy, I just hope that people will read your blog and spread the word about these creeps.
And as for the Amish, please don't get your puppies there either. They run some of the dirtiest and cruelest puppy mills around. People think that because they are Amish, and live their life so close to the word of the Bible that they are loving and are the best people to buy from. Don't fall for them, they are not as angelic as they have made Americans believe they are.

I know of someone who purchased one of these puppies from a hotel (I guess they have these sales once a month - I'd never even heard of it before). When I saw the little thing, it just sat there and sat there. It never showed any excitement or energy. No tail wagging, face licking - none of the usual happy puppy behaviors.

While I agree that no one should patronize these puppy peddlers, I hate to think of what these inhumane people would do to the innocent little angels if no one bought them. I don't know if there's an easy answer to this problem.

Some people are just so shallow that they have to have a "designer" dog or nothing. I hope they don't mind the "designer" prices they're going to pay in vet bills when their new little acquisition develops health and behavior problems!

Hi Nancy,
Kudos to you for drawing attention to this horrible problem in the state of Ohio! You are correct, puppies sold at these sales are from bad places, these are called puppy mills. I am the founder of Marilyn's Voice and these are exactly the types of people we are targeting. In fact, The Holiday Inn Wickliffe refused to hold these sales at their location after learning the truth about these sales. The puppies at these sales are usually dirty, malnourished , diseased and have many health issues. The puppies are also not treated well and are given minimal food and water, let alone vet care.
It is unfortunate that people in the state of Ohio aren't aware that we are one of the worst states for puppy mills. For those who aren't fimiliar with puppy mill, here's an overview. Puppy mills are characerized as a large scale breeding facillity where the breeding males and females live their entire lives in cramped metal cages where they can't move around freely. Oftem times their little paws are bloody and raw from balancing on the metal wire. The cages are rarely cleaned and dogs never have human touch or affection. The vocal chords are often cut with scissors so the dogs don't bark, it gets pretty noisy when 500 dogs are barking at once! The females can have several litters, as many as 14 or 15! When they won't produce anymore they usually are dumped or killed or maybe sold to research. The puppies are rarely helathy and have genetice problems, disease and socialization problems. Can you believe that the Amish are the largest group of puppy mill operators in the state of Ohio. Yes, it's true!
Please take a look at our website to learn how you can help stop this horrible business! These prisoners of greed deserve a better life. Thank you for your time. Kristina Lange, Founder, Marilyn's Voice,Inc.
